Full Time Opportunities:

Rockland Police Department: Co-Response Mental Health Clinician

The Town of Rockland Police Department is seeking a dedicated Co-Response Mental Health Clinician to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting both our officers and our community through a co-response model that addresses behavioral health crises with compassion and expertise.

About the Role
 The Co-Response Mental Health Clinician will work alongside police officers to respond to calls involving individuals experiencing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, or related crises. The clinician will provide on-site assessments, crisis intervention, short-term counseling, and referrals to community-based services. This role also includes training, consultation, and ongoing collaboration with law enforcement and local agencies to improve outcomes for individuals in crisis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond with officers to calls involving behavioral health crises.
  • Provide on-site clinical assessments and crisis intervention services.
  • Deliver short-term counseling and facilitate referrals to appropriate services.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Police Department and community providers.
  • Assist with case management, documentation, and program development.
  • Develop and deliver mental health training for police personnel.
  • Support a collaborative, ethical, and community-focused approach to crisis response.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Massachusetts licensure (LMHC, LCSW, LICSW, or equivalent) or actively working toward licensure.
  • Minimum two years’ experience with individuals experiencing mental health or substance use disorders; one year in a diversion or crisis program preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of DSM-5, crisis intervention strategies, and community resources.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle.
  • Ability to pass CORI and comprehensive background checks.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary: $75,000 per year (negotiable based on experience).

Highway- Truck Driver–Laborer (Class II)

Status: Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week
Starting Pay: $26.21/hour
Union Position: AFSCME Council 93, Local Public Works Unit

About the Role
 The Town of Rockland is seeking a motivated and reliable Class II Truck Driver–Laborer to join our Highway Department. This role is essential in maintaining safe and functional roadways, supporting infrastructure projects, and ensuring the day-to-day operations of the department run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate dump trucks and related equipment for highway operations
  • Perform snow plowing and sanding during winter storms
  • Support road construction, paving, maintenance, and repairs (including manholes, basins, and patching)
  • Install and repair road signs
  • Carry out general labor duties such as shoveling, sweeping, raking, and debris removal
  • Assist with additional tasks and assignments as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License, minimum Class B with airbrakes required
  • General knowledge of road construction, repair, and maintenance practices
  • Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Reliability, teamwork, and strong work ethic

 Sewer Department- The Town of Rockland is seeking experienced and motivated applicants interested in becoming Rockland's next Sewer Superintendent. The position, which reports to the Town's recently reorganized Board of Sewer Commissioners, works collaboratively and in partnership with the Town Administrator, town departments and applicable community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Operational Management: Provide vision and strategic direction for wastewater operations while managing and mentoring a team of employees and contractors. Ensure department goals are met with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Infrastructure and Utility Management: Oversee the operation and maintenance of municipal wastewater infrastructure, including treatment plants and collection systems, ensuring compliance with all permits and performance standards.
  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including NPDES permits, inspections, and reporting.
  • Budgeting and Financial Oversight: Prepare and administer the department’s operating and capital budgets, monitor expenditures, and plan for future infrastructure improvements. Collaborate on public sector budgeting and financial planning to ensure proper allocation of funds.
  • Public and Interdepartmental Relations: Act as a liaison to residents, town officials, and regulatory agencies. Respond to inquiries, complaints, and emergencies in a professional and timely manner.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Be available 24/7 for emergency response related to wastewater operations.

Qualifications

  • Education: bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, public administration, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in wastewater operations, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Strong background in utility or infrastructure management is highly desirable.
  • Licensing: Possess or have the ability to obtain a Grade 7 Massachusetts Wastewater Operator’s License within a designated time frame, as determined by the Sewer Commissioners. A valid Class D Massachusetts Motor Vehicle License is required.
  • Skills: Proficiency in managing safety programs, understanding regulatory compliance, public sector financial planning, and using technology to enhance operations. Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills are essential.

Park Department – Equipment Operator

The Town of Rockland is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious professional to join our team as an Equipment Operator within the Park Department. This full-time union position plays a vital role in maintaining and improving the Town’s parks, fields, and open spaces through skilled equipment operation, groundskeeping, and seasonal public works projects.

About the Role:

The Equipment Operator is responsible for a wide range of field-based and mechanical tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Operating trucks and heavy machinery
  • Maintaining and repairing public parks, athletic fields, rail trails, and other public spaces
  • Performing snow and ice removal during winter months
  • Supporting Town events, construction efforts, and other seasonal operations

What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking a reliable, team-oriented individual who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining public spaces. Ideal candidates will have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)
  • A valid driver’s license
  • 1C/2A Hoisting Engineer licenses (required at time of hire)
  • CDL Class B with air brake endorsement and pesticide applicator license (preferred)
  • Strong mechanical skills and the ability to operate heavy equipment safely
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities

Rockland Recreation is seeking Program Instructors to lead leisure activities for groups of students, of all ages, at various times and varying days of the week. This position requires considerable experience in a specialized skill area or hobby with experience in teaching and leading others in learning the skill or specialty area. Program Instructors are responsible for the overall leading and teaching of the skill to registered customers. Programs could take place at various locations in the Town including, parks and the community center. South Shore 5 Public Health Alliance- The Town of Rockland, in collaboration with the South Shore 5 Public Health Alliance (SS5PHA), is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Regional Health Inspector to support public health initiatives across the towns of Hanover, Marshfield, Norwell, Pembroke, and Rockland. This position plays a crucial role in safeguarding community health through inspections, enforcement of health regulations, and public health education.

This is a part-time grant-funded position, offering 15-19 hours per week at a competitive hourly rate of $32 - $45 per hour, commensurate with experience. The position is based in Rockland but requires travel across the SS5PHA region.
