The mission of the Rockland Police Department is to work in partnership with the citizens of Rockland to ensure public safety and to enhance the quality of each citizens’ life.We shall work as leaders in problem solving partnerships with those whom we serve, treating all with the dignity and respect that they deserve.

  • Animal Control

    The Animal Control Department is here to enforce both the town by-laws as well as the state laws pertaining to animals. We work to assist and educate the public in these matters.

  • Detective Division

    It is our mission to promote the highest level of public safety and quality of life, through exceptional police service to town residents, businesses and visitors.

  • Honor Guard

    Compromising of 14 members, including Commanding Officer; Sergeant Brian Coakley, Senior Director; Sergeant Thomas MacDonald and Associate Director; Officer Ryan Croak.

  • K9 Unit

    The Rockland Police K-9 Unit started in 2005. The K-9 Unit consists of Police Officer Steven Somers and Patrol K-9 “Teo” and Police Officer James McLaughlin and Narcotics K-9 “Friday”.

  • Bicycle Patrol Unit

    We began a uniformed Bicycle Patrol Unit in 1994. The goal of the program was to localize police coverage and bring the department closer in touch with the community.

  • Traffic Unit

    The officers of the Rockland Police Department’s Traffic Unit are committed to the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians within the town of Rockland.


Designated Driver

The Designated Driver Program is a cooperative effort between Chief John R. Llewellyn, Rockland Police Department, District Attorney Timoth J. Cruz and 17 participating establishments in Rockland.

R.A.D. Systems

The R.A.D.System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.)

The Rockland D.A.R.E. program is a comprehensive drug and violence prevention program. The D.A.R.E. program is a collaborative effort between the Rockland Public Schools and the Rockland Police Department.

  • Firearms Licensing & Solicitation Permits

    Information on renewal applicants, license types, helpful information and steps to follow in applying for a license including the relevant documents required.

  • Crime Watch

    Crime Watch is a group of neighbors looking out for neighbors. It is getting to know each other and becoming familiar with your neighbors’ habits for the better protection of the neighbourhood.

  • RPD Most Wanted

    We ask all members of the general public to review our list of Rockland Police Department Most Wanted and report to us if you have seen or witnessed any of them in your area.

  • Enhanced 911

    Rockland went online with Enhanced 911 service on November 23, 1996. Here you can find information about our call team, and what happens in an emergency situation.

  • Sex Offenders

    Any member of the public who is at least 18 years of age or older may request sex offender information. The information can be provided to any individual for his/her own protection

  • Unlawful Telephone Calls

    This form is required to make any reports on annoyance/obscene phone calls. The telephone subscriber is required to sign this form and in doing so agrees that they will testify in court if necessary.
